GARDEN IN PORTOFINO

Portofino (GE) – 2017

Romantic blooms by the sea

In a garden that climbs the slopes of Monte di Portofino in a succession of terraces that rise upwards at the back of the house, the landscaping intervention had to hold in consideration the shade and humidity that characterize the garden during winter and subsequent sunny summer exposure, together with some large existing plants. For this reason, plants with different characteristics were chosen, to adapt to every part of the garden: roses that can also tolerate northern exposure, hydrangeas, but also Westringia, Convolvus mauritanicus, carnations, Erigeron karviskianus, so that looking from the windows the terraces always appear as bands of flowers. In addition to the many blooms that fall from the walls, large extensions of Ficus repens color the gray of the stone.
