SOL DES SOLS – LAUSANNE JARDINS 2004

The city cannot interpret nature, the main task of the garden: the ‘Sol des sols’ project by aMAZING_sTUDIO tries to find a third, alternative and urban nature.

A large artificial structure is placed in the intermediate space between the ground and the sky, creating a new, alternative and third layer, and the ground doubles. On this structure, the green expands and is stratified, light and at the same time characterized by its weight: the leaves and flowers lean on the new soil, colonize it, appropriating it. ‘Sol des sols’ is a large cloud suspended between nature (the climbing plants) and artifice (the wire mesh), which occupies and defines a new space, interrupts the usual one, and dialogues with the last built surface and the sky.
