PRIVATE GARDEN IN THE CITY

Milano (MI), 2005

A space to grow

At the end of the garden, enclosed by long brick walls, a wood and glass greenhouse was built, custom-made by Tommaso Scacchi. The space between the house and the greenhouse, freed from the driveway that crossed it centrally and replaced by a lateral path, was divided by a sequence that alternates long box hedges and narrow rectangular flowerbeds, arranged perpendicular to the visual axis from the house in order to further increase the perception of space.

In the many flowerbeds, mainly herbaceous species were used to obtain a rich spring flowering, from April to June, in shades of white, pink and blue-lilac, with some touches of yellow, thanks to daylilies and phlomis.

The floors were chosen with particular attention and different materials alternate to give warmth, sound and substance: teak, gravel and gneiss slabs.
